Ray Anthony Steadman

Life has taken me from chaos to calm, from city streets to rainforests, from rebuilding after storms to creating something that endures. Each chapter taught me that real wealth comes from balance—between people, planet, and purpose. Axis Mundi Global is that balance come to life.

Roots

From as early as I can remember, dogs were a part of my world.

My parents were passionate dog lovers who started breeding Labradors when I was still an infant, and my earliest memories are filled with puppies. I learned responsibility by helping care for countless litters—feeding, cleaning, and watching them grow.

Among all those dogs, one stood out: a black Lab named Jeda. She bonded to me in a way I didn’t understand at the time, choosing me as her person. She slept beside me every night, followed me everywhere, and stayed close through my entire childhood. That connection with Jeda rooted a lifelong bond with animals—a quiet, guiding thread that has shaped everything I’ve done since.

Early Adventures

I was born in 1975 in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I’ve always been drawn to movement, energy, and creation. Straight out of high school, I dove headfirst into the nightlife scene—producing and managing nightclubs, orchestrating light, sound, and energy into unforgettable experiences. It was wild, creative, and full of lessons about people, rhythm, and flow.

Over time, my path shifted toward something more grounded but just as intense—hurricane restoration and emergency response.

For over two decades, I traveled across the United States managing storm recovery crews and emergency tree-removal teams after hurricanes and tornadoes. The work was demanding and unpredictable, but it was real. It taught me resilience, community, and how nature’s power humbles us all.

Island Life & The Call of the Land

In 2009, I traded steel boots for salt water and moved to St. Maarten, where I started a paddleboard rental and sales business.

Those years on the island were pure simplicity—sunrise paddles, ocean air, and connection to the sea. Life slowed down and deepened.

By 2012, I felt the pull of the earth again and moved onto a permaculture farm, raising pigs, chickens, and cattle, and growing my own food. I learned firsthand what sustainability really means—how much work it takes to live from the land, and how fulfilling it feels to be part of nature’s cycles.

Finding Home in Costa Rica

In 2014, I made a life-changing move to Costa Rica.

There, I not only fell in love with the land I was stewarding—I found a family. In San Buenas, the same town where the Axis Mundi project now stands, I met the Granados family.

Through them, I discovered a kind of love and belonging I never experienced growing up. They accepted me as one of their own, helped me when I needed it most, and showed me what true community feels like.

To this day, Brainer and Delmer Granados are not just dear friends—they’re also our property managers and essential members of the Axis Mundi Global team.

A New Direction

By 2018, my path led me to Colorado, where I founded a natural, reef-safe sunscreen company inspired by my love for the ocean and the need to protect it. Then the pandemic hit. Instead of slowing down, I took to the road—traveling across the U.S. in a converted Sprinter van, reconnecting with nature, and rediscovering what freedom and simplicity truly mean.

Axis Mundi Global

All of those experiences eventually brought me full circle—back to Costa Rica, back to the jungle, and back to purpose.

Today, I’m devoted to building the Axis Mundi Global Project—an 84-acre vision for regenerative living, wildlife rescue, and sustainable community.

It’s more than just land—it’s a living experiment in coexistence. Off-grid homes, permaculture systems, and wildlife enclosures are designed to flow with the natural environment, allowing humans and animals to share space, safety, and freedom.

Full Circle

Looking back, my journey has never been straight—nightclubs, storms, islands, farms, mountains, jungles—but every turn taught me something vital. From my first connection with Jeda the black Lab to the howler monkeys calling outside my window today, animals and nature have always been my greatest teachers.

My story is one of movement, growth, and rediscovery—an adventure toward balance and harmony with the earth, with others, and with myself.
