Axis Mundi Animal Rescue

🐾 Help Us Help Them

Supporting Costa Rica’s Overwhelmed Sanctuaries

Across Costa Rica, countless animal rescues and sanctuaries are filled beyond capacity. From exotic animal refuges to dog and cat shelters, veterinary clinics, and foster homes — these compassionate organizations work tirelessly, but the need always exceeds the space.

Our Vision

At Axis Mundi Global, we are inspired to create a sanctuary that supports these existing rescue networks. Our goal is to provide a safe, no-kill refuge for animals who have already been saved but still need a permanent home — giving local sanctuaries the room they need to continue taking in new animals in critical condition.

A Sanctuary Within the Land

Axis Mundi is dedicating a large portion of our property to this cause. Our entire community plan is being designed around the Animal Rescue and School, ensuring the wellbeing of both animals and people remains central to our mission.

Thoughtful Design for Every Species

Structures will be thoughtfully placed throughout the property, each built to meet the needs of animals that can no longer return to the wild. This includes:

  • Self-standing enclosures for species requiring specialized habitats.
  • Integrated, species-specific spaces within residential and community buildings — allowing coexistence, care, and education to intertwine naturally with daily life.

A Future of Compassion and Coexistence

By blending sustainable design, education, and empathy, Axis Mundi Global aims to become a living model of how humans and animals can thrive together — in harmony, respect, and mutual care.

🐾 Axis Mundi Animal Rescue

We Have the Land. We Have the Plan.

Now, we need your help to bring it to life.

We are ready to dedicate several acres of our Axis Mundi Costa Rica property exclusively to the care and protection of cats and dogs in need. The site we’ve chosen is flat, open, and ideal for thoughtful design and construction. However, before we can begin building, we must first create access roads, extend power and water, and clear light vegetation for the foundation.

We’re working closely with local architects and engineers to design a main facility that will serve multiple functions, supporting both the animals and the dedicated humans who care for them.

Our Vision for the Rescue Center

The main structure will be designed to stack many essential functions under one roof, including:

  • Two private quarters for veterinarians
  • Large shared bunk-room for volunteers
  • A large shared bunk room
  • Multi-shower restrooms
  • Full kitchen and dining area
  • Animal intake and quarantine zones
  • Surgery and critical care rooms
  • Climate-controlled kennels
  • Separate healing and outdoor-access enclosures
  • A large, fenced roaming area
  • Covered outdoor shelters for shade and rain protection

This rescue will rely heavily on volunteer support from veterinarians, vet techs, students, and caring individuals from around the world. The facility will also provide on-site housing for volunteers, ensuring comfort and continuity of care.

Timeline & Transparency

We plan to begin groundwork in 2026, alongside other community-building efforts at Axis Mundi. With the support of our long-time local partner Brainer Granados, who has lived his entire life in San Buenaventura, we have the experience and community connections to make this happen quickly once funding is secured.

When fully funded, we will legally separate this area from the Axis Mundi property plan and place it into a Costa Rican trust, ensuring it becomes its own independent entity. This provides full reassurance to donors, investors, and volunteers that their contributions go directly to a permanent, protected cause.
