At Axis Mundi Costa Rica, our mission is to create a lasting sanctuary — a place where humans and animals can coexist in harmony, grounded in compassion, sustainability, and community.

After more than a decade of dedication and perseverance, we are honored to steward this extraordinary 84-acre property in San Buenaventura, Sur Osa. Here, we are bringing to life a vision that has been years in the making: a no-kill animal refuge, a living classroom, and a self-sustaining community that embodies respect for all life.

Our animal rescue and refuge will provide safety, care, and dignity to all creatures in need, while our learning center will educate and inspire future generations in the principles of sustainability, animal welfare, and environmental stewardship.

Beyond rescue and education, our long-term goal is to cultivate a self-sustaining ecosystem — one that produces its own food, practices responsible animal husbandry, and fosters deep respect for the land and its wildlife.

We also envision a compassionate community that grows together, nurturing not only the land but the people who call it home. In time, this model will expand to include the care and upbringing of children in need — giving them a home, a family, an education, and eventually, their own place within the community to continue this mission forward.
